Samantha Buck is an award-winning filmmaker and actress. Her second feature documentary, Best Kept Secret, was Peabody award winner as well as a New York Times Critics Pick. It was named Best of Fest at AFI DOCS in 2013, was nominated for a Gotham Independent Film Award, and won the Audience Award at Independent Film Festival Boston. It broadcast on PBS as the closing film in their award-winning series POV. Her directorial debut 21 Below earned critical acclaim and has aired on Channel 4 in the UK and YES in Israel. It was an official selection at Hot Docs in Toronto, AFI/Discovery SilverDOCS, Newport International Festival, Galway Film Fleadh, Sheffield Doc Fest, Docpoint, and the Woodstock Film Festival. Her short film The Mink Catcher premiered at the Telluride Film Festival and screened at SXSW. She is currently developing The Mink Catcher into a fiction feature following the lives of three women against the political landscape in Dallas, Texas, during the summer of 1980. The feature script was a quarter finalist for the Academy Nicholls Fellowship.

As an actress she was a regular on Law & Order: Criminal Intent, opposite Vincent DʼOnofrio and Stella opposite David Wain. Other credits include: Third Watch, David Milchʼs Big Apple, Golden Boy, Blue Bloods, Six Degrees, Z Rock, and Sex and the City. Film credits include Searching for Paradise, Wirey Spindell, 24-Hour Woman and Woman in Burka. Most recently, she appeared in the films Gayby, What Maisie Knew, and Hellbenders, as well as a recurring role in Martin Scorsese’s new HBO series Vinyl.

Samantha is a graduate of New York Universityʼs Tisch School of the Arts and currently attends Columbia University MFA Film program.
