Independent Spirit Awards nominate ASF Grant Winner!

The Independent Spirit Awards announced that Dia Sokol is a nominee for the Piaget Producer's Award, for her work on “Beeswax” and “Nights & Weekends." The 13th annual Piaget Producers Award honors emerging producers who, despite highly limited resources demonstrate the creativity, tenacity, and vision required to produce quality, independent films. Dia won the 2008 IFP/Adrienne Shelly Foundation Director's Grant for her relationship comedy Sorry Thanks.

Adrienne Shelly Foundation Benefit/SERIOUS MOONLIGHT NYC movie premiere

This year, due to the timing of the early December theatrical release of SERIOUS MOONLIGHT, the film I produced which Adrienne wrote after WAITRESS, we are combining the annual Adrienne Shelly Foundation's fundraising gala with the film's U.S. red-carpet premiere (see details below). The screening and after-party is Thursday December 3rd, and will include the awarding of this year's IFP Adrienne Shelly Director's Grant, co-presented by Cheryl Hines. PARK CITY, UT, January 22, 2007 -- The Adrienne Shelly Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the memory of writer/director/actor Adrienne Shelly, has been established by her husband, Andy Ostroy, who will serve as its executive director. With a focus on women, the organization's mission is to award grants to help finance student films and independent film projects; supplement film school scholarships and awards, and to produce readings of deserving scripts. Other Foundation initiatives will be announced over time.
